A Massachusetts nonprofit closing the gap in preventive dental care.
Visiting Dental Hygiene, Inc. (VDH) was founded in 2013 to bring preventive dental hygiene services directly into the community settings where access is hardest — and need is greatest.
To improve overall health and quality of life by bringing mobile dental hygiene care directly to individuals, ensuring access regardless of financial situation, geography, or social circumstances.
That everyone in Southeastern Massachusetts has access to quality dental hygiene care, at little or no cost.
Continuity of care — not a one-time visit. We come back, we build trust, and we treat people as neighbors.
What we hold ourselves to.
Compassion
Every patient is met with warmth, patience, and respect.
Equity
Care should not depend on geography, income, or mobility.
Prevention-Focused
Small, consistent visits prevent large, painful outcomes.
Collaboration
We work alongside partners who already serve our patients.

It started with a question: why should a tooth determine a life?
In 2013, a dental hygienist watched too many of her patients fall out of care — not because they didn't want it, but because they couldn't get to it. Wheelchairs and elevators. Shift work and bus schedules. Recovery programs and shelters that had a hundred things to manage before a cleaning.
VDH was born from the belief that mobile, preventive care could meet people where they already are. A decade later, we operate as a small but mighty Massachusetts nonprofit serving more than 2,000 patients a year — and we're just getting started.
The road ahead is clear: expand to more sites, deepen partnerships with shelters and recovery programs, and build the sustainable funding base that lets us say yes when a community calls.
